tcase swap
ive got a 95 zj 4.0 auto with the np231, i have a newer lower miles np231 to swap in... ive never done one before, is it hard? super easy? i am mechanically inclined. doin this in my driveway as well.. any tips, tricks, pointes would be greatly appriciated..

It's pretty simple, just remove the drive shafts, linkage, and unplug the electrical stuff, six bolts between the trans and t-case. Be careful not to drop it on your head.

If your current one is fine - why not keep it in; and buy a rebuild kit ($200) for the newer 231. Drive till bad, then do your swap with basically a brand new tcase. Plus, if you use HD parts in the new one you're going to have one sic 231tcase to brag about. I dunno if what I'm saying is even worth doing. Just wanted to throw the idea out there. I'm pretty much a newb.
