Default Is this an SYE?

Have this blasted in half transfer case here and I'm wondering if this is an SYE. It's a select trac out of a 97 ZJ with a 4.0

A hard front end impact will bust the t-case in half like that, the front axle gets pushed back and the front driveshaft act as a battering ram and breaks the t-case.

Control arms and everything look good to me. To have that much force to crack the case like this wouldn't that leave some tell tail signs?

I'm not saying that is what happened to this t-case, but it does happen. If this one is at a boneyard, maybe the forklift driver damaged the case while moving the Jeep around the yard.

It came out of my friends Jeep who was driving to work and said this happened while he was doing 60 on the highway.

Would this happen if the t-case wasn't fully engaged in whatever it was he had it selected in?

He's been known for being halfassed in 4lo and ignoring the klacking and banging lol

If he was running in 4lo or parttime this could happen if hes running diff gearing in both axles or diff size tires front and back. Happened to my bros zj when he had stock tires up front and 33s in the back. Is any gears or chains broke?

Gears and chain look good inside it. Front and back tires all exactly the same... as for gears... I have no idea what hes running but I'm pretty sure they match. All I had to give him was a 249 out of a 95. Seems to be driving fine now. If gears were different he would HAVE to know by now!
