I'm really not sure, but I'll give it a shot. It seems you have a lot of friction in your steering. An 05 shouldn't have bad steering joints or knuckles (kingpins) yet so check for bent tierods. If the front tires are WAY out of alignment, could cause the problem. Otherwise, you're not getting the pressure you need out of the pump. Duh! that's probably it right there!! low pump pressure. Some systems have a pressure control valve at the output port of the pump and the hose screws into it. If so, it may be changed without changing to pump. Best to check your pump's output pressure and then decide from there.

WK read this before doing anything else

http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2005/...g/problem.aspx

One of my Soldiers on post just recently got a '05 Grand Cherokee. After a 2 months of the dealership not being able to track down this same problem he replaced the steering rack after having replaced almost everything else. What he found was that his power steering fluid had leaked into the Power Steering Rack Boots. The previous owner had kept all the fluids topped off so there was no telling that the fluid was low at some point.

Have you looked to see that the hoses are not crimped or bent?

Have you checked to see if your steering stabilizer is not bent or faulty?
