Steering HELP PLEASE!!! 97 ZJ
Hey guys, So I have a 97 Jeep ZJ, I6, 42RE.. 5.5 IRO Long Arm Lift with 1 1/2 spacers also up front. IRO Over the Knuckle Steering system (heims) running 33x12.50's.
After I finished my lift and everything I did a driveway alignement and got the toe spot on. The lift has the weird castor adjuster and I set it to IRO Recommendations and was great. It drove like a dream, much better than stock. I went up to the Rubico Trail and did a day run with some friends last week and once again it drove great. I got it home and the next day went about 5 miles up the road and it started going ALL over the road at the slightest change in wind speed or on non highway roads.. It is SCARY now.
- My axle was off centered so I adjusted my track bar to get it within 1/4 inch center. I installed a drop pitman to give me better steering geometry, I re-did the toe in and set that again.. New ball joints, new axle u joints..
Anyone?? Pa lease??

They always say to go back after a few miles and retighten every bolt you put on...maybe a control arm bolt or something got loose. Also check steering box bolts, etc.

does it have death wobble? not sure what you mean by all over the road but thats what comes to mind, if you have the iro track bar check and make sure the lock nuts are properly secured, mine kept coming loose after a hard day of wheeling. i ended up lock tighting them and the problem ceased for me. and if you checked the alinement i had to toe out 1/4" for death wobble to stop for me. again this is for death wobble, if thats what you mean by all over the road.
