Just wanted to share becuase I spent hours researching why my GC would not always turnover - but when it did and hit the gas - it would shut down. Replaced plugs, cleaned distributor cables etc...


At any time if you reverse the neg and pos cables for a jump you'll fry something in your computer. (Which I can admit I did but the symptoms did not show up until 8 months later).

I did exhaustive searches on my issue when it started and was fine and let the batteries die... There are tons of "do this" techniques and this worked for me courtesy of a local shop in town.

The forums on some of the Fixya sites states - back out 4 screws in the pcm, replace the o2 sensor etc, short your alarm etc .. In my case - the stalling and shutting down down of the engine (and not being able to start) was due to the computer having the idle sensor circuitry malfunctioning. The mechanic - shorted the idle sensor and it all works nice without huge bills ($85 dollars was all I was charged).
