Default Electric Fan Swap

My gf has a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. At least once a year the electric fan or relay goes out. Is it possible to take out the electric fan and swap in a mechanical fan to solve this problem cheaply? If so, what years and vehicles could I find a fan and hardware in for the 4.0L?

On the other hand, what is making the relay and or fan burn up so often? Bad Wiring?

FYI, this thing has 212k on it and is hopefully on its way to being a trail rig or to the grave. So I am looking to go the cheap route and not buy a whole new aftermarket electric fan system.

You'll have to get the mopar fan blades but you can get a cheap clutch from autozone or somewhere, however cheap parts don't last as long which may be why you kept going through fans/relays,that or 212k!lol. Or if you have any JY's with wj's their were some I6 with tow packages that had mechanical fans.

Seems like burning up fan relays and motors is pretty common in a lot of them so I am going to go the mech fan route. I found a new fan clutch without any problems. The Mopar fan is about $60. The 93-98 wj fans are dirt cheap, any idea if it will mount up to my 2001 fan clutch and fit in the shroud?
