Diagram not really needed but its on the passenger side of engine, down at the bottom beside the oil pan and in front if the trans bellhousing. It is about the size/shape of a 16oz beer can with another smaller can attached to it, or you could follow the positive battery cable down to it.

If you're have a hard time finding the starter, I would suggest having the job done by a pro. Are you sure it's the starter that is bad? How did you diagnose it to be bad?

hey everyone has to learn somehow, if he wants to do it himself awesome, just make sure to unhook the battery first! and before you buy a new one have someone test it to make sure thats what is wrong, autozone or a place like that can do that for you

LMAO replacing a starter is far from brain surgery, not even a realistic comparison, and its pretty much unbolt, take out, put new in, bolt back up, simple so whats the big deal if the guy wants to do it himself?

But if does not even know where to find the starter, that could be a problem. I really doubt there is anything wrong with the starter. The fail rate for starters on any vehicle made in the last 10 years is very low, I would bet money on it being a battery related problem. If you don't know where to find the starter, the chances are pretty slim that you'll know how to properly diagnose it to be bad. If he wants to replace it, fine, it's his money. But a little bit of diagnostic skill can save a bundle of cash, and not ripping into something you have no idea about will also save you money.

A 2005 in need of a steering box? How many miles do you have on this rig? Do you beat on this poor thing, or do you baby it?

Check the battery connects just to make sure. A new battery with bad or dirty connections is not much better than a dead battery.
