Stalling/Dying outright
Howdy all!
1st time poster here and new to the forums.
I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that has 184,687 miles on it. The issue that I'm having is this; it's dying while I'm driving it or at least stalling heavily for a minute or so before it picks back up on the power and drives normally. I've noticed that this usually happens when I'm driving under 50 miles per hour.
I'm not much when it comes to mechanical know-how, but I'm not afraid to ask/answer questions or learn something new. Just need some advice here.
Many thanks in advance!

It's a 4.0. If there is any other relevant data that I can provide that anyone can think of, I have no problem getting it (that I know of).
So far, I'll try replacing the fuel filter first, followed by the T.P. Sensor and then the O2 sensor, unless anyone can provide a reason why I should do it another order.
I appreciate all the replies thus far!

The fuel filter on a 97 GC is located inside the gas tank and is attached to the fuel pump.
I'd look at some free things first, it doesn't cost a penny to do a little diagnostic work on your own. Check the connections at the coil, look for loose plug wires, look for loose connectors at sensors, things that are obvious. Also the PCM connections on the mid to late 90 series GC are notorious for giving issues similar to those you describe often without giving a code or illuminating the CEL. Try cleaning the connections by taking them off the PCM and spraying down into the cavities with electronics cleaner. DO NOT goop a load of dielectric grease on them after cleaning, dielectric grease is an insulator not a conductor. Getting it down in the cavities can insulate the pins from their connectors. If you want to use any just put a light film of it around the edge of the connector to help form a seal when the plug is reinserted.

Yeah, do some diagnostic work before throwing a bunch of parts at it. When it stalls you need to check for spark and fuel before you replace anything.

@CrazyMacaw: I'm glad that you mentioned the codes; I haven't seen one crop up at all when it does this and I'll be sure to take your advice on free diagnostics before purchasing parts.
