Default Speedometer

I searched but couldn't find what i was looking for.
My 94 zj's speedometer works when it wants too. The RPMS work all the time but occasionally the speed will kick on and work anywhere from on then off to working normally. Could it be a problem with the gauge cluster or is it the sensor on the transmission/ transfer case? Everything is plugged in.

I'd say it's the sensor or the connector to it. Check the connector/harness for corrosion/shorts/dirt and reconnect and see if it helps.

Agreed. Something could be messing with the teeth on the gears.

I believe they are just nylon or something. I don't imagine they can take too much abuse.
