Default Soft Struts?

Hey I am new here but have a huge question and no one I know seems to know the answer and I hope someone here can help. I have an '03 Grand Cherokee Larado 4x4 and I need to replace the struts on it all around. I was told when I bought it that it had soft struts on it because it had alot of "bounce" in it when I went over bumps and when you stop quickly it would rock back and forth and it would take turns like a dream! I want to put soft struts back on it but don't know where to get them or even how to ask for them without getting blank stares back like I just spoke in a foreign language. lol !! Can someone please help me? I really want to get them soon so I can put them on this weekend when I am replacing other parts on her. Thanks in advance!!!

erm... a "soft" strut is one that is worn out. You cannot buy them that way new.
Any auto parts store can get you the correct strut.
You may have better luck in the Grand Cherokee forum, this is the XJ version over here.

I'm pretty sure your jeep has coil springs and shocks, not struts. Have you looked under it?

Edit: I am absolutely certain your jeep does not have struts. It's coils and shocks at all 4 corners.

Awesome. I wasn't sure what the GC had, having never owned one.

The zj and wj are coils, I think wk and wk2 probably have struts. Yours is a wj if you didn't know.

Edit: oops I didn't pay attention, I thought you were the op oh well he will see it.

I think he means softer/smoother shocks. Get Bilsteins or Old Man Emu if you want a smooth ride.

No. Having old shocks doesn't make your suspension feel soft.

Hey Thanks everyone for your feed back! I did find out I have shocks and not struts. Oh, and I am a female not a man lol! i am doing all the work myself and was miss informed on whether I had struts or shocks. I found a place close to me that specializes in off road vehicles and the guy there is going to help me order the ones that I am looking for. He told me he knows which ones I am talking about. But THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR AWESOME FEED BACK HERE!!!

i installed monreo sensatrac shocks into 1997 ZJ Laredo. Price performance ratio is quite high. and after died stock shocks, ride quality is great.
