Default Pistons melted Grand Cherokee 4.0L LPG STRAIGHT 6

Hello I just bought a Grand Cherokee 3956cc straight 6 with lpg conversion as a bit of a project!
The cylinder head is off it and it looks like the pistons have holes burnt through the middle of the crowns! (bores look ok)

A recon cylinder head and gasket set came with the car but i have no idea where to get the pistons from!

Is this a common problem with these engines? Can i please have some advise on what the best repair procedure will be, can i get away with a bore hone and new crowns and rings? wheres the best place to get the piston crowns and rings?
and any tips on timing engine up etc would be great!

Thanks in advance for any help/tips i recieve!

If the bores are in spec I would just hone. You can find a hundred sources for pistons with a simple Google search. If your pistons melted then you have a severe lean condition that will also need to be addressed. Forged pistons will take more abuse if there is the possibility of it running lean again.

Be sure to have the bores checked with a micrometer for out of round and taper as the bores may have warped from the heat that caused the pistons to melt.

I think it would be more cost effective to get a used engine and swap it out. I would also ditch the LPG and go back to gasoline.

LPG is good But it runs hotter when mixture is lean. Beware.
