Hmmm that's a difficult question... what I'd do is disassemble the gauges and steering wheel and install your own steering wheel and gauges (including a new ignition slot)... it doesn't matter if it's street legal since you only use it for racing.

Yes it does. The PCM reads ALL the sensors. You COULD hotwire the ASD and fuel pump relays to a switch because they control the fuel pump, fuel injectors, and ignition. That way the only thing the PCM would be doing is adjusting the fuel trim and alternator. OH...and the transmission thru the BCM and TCM.

Sorry, man. I had to burn my brain just to come up with that. It might not even work! AFAIK, the system works like this; Key on, PCM is energized. When it gets a CKS signal, it turns on the ASD and fuel pump relays. Now you've got fuel pressure, ignition and injector pulses. When the engine begins to run, The PCM does a sweep check of all the sensors, including the SKIM. If something's not right, it shuts off the ASD and fuel.

If you knew how to write computer code, you could probably get the PCM to ignore the SKIM, but that's WAY beyond my capabilities.

If you can find the security module, and keep it running a bit longer then you can pull the module while its running. If the PCM does not see the security module at shut down it will not look for it at start up. I have done this on few older ZJ's (93 and 96) and never had a security issue again. Not sure if it would work on 2002 WJ but figured I put it out there.. The dealer will tell you that the above won't work on a ZJ, but it does. Keep looking there has to be a way to get rid of junk security modules on the WJ too...

So ZJs are my thing, some XJ stuff to but never really done more with a WJ than maintenance, However on a ZJ the security switch is in the door and can switch off the security system by unlocking door with keys - the security module is under the top of the dash behind the glove box. Kind of looks like a smaller metal PCM with a rectangular harness plug. Sorry I couldn't help more.

There is a video on utube that covers removal of skim functions from pcm, looks like computer programing/reprograming would be a must.

UTUBE title: Erasing skim function from jeep pcm.
