I noticed the other day that my running lights are coming on and my dash lights are dimming as well as the OHC. Its acting like I have the switch on but its not. I checked all the fuses and they are all good. Any thoughts/suggestions? Could the switch be bad?

Might be stupid to say but mine cycle sometimes too. It is usually on overcast days and I only notice when I happen to hear the click or I look at my speed and find that the dash lights are dimmed. I run mine in auto all the time. If you have your switch off and it is still cycling as in auto I would say switch. If it is cycling random regardless of weather I would still say switch and or bad relay...Electrical is NOT my strong suit.

Lights on when they shouldn't be, and dimming when they shouldn't be...sounds like a harness connector to me. If this is an XJ we are talking about I would say pull the tail lights and check around for a multi connector with white and green ooze all over it and start jumping it out.

its a ZJ. How would a connector cause it to come on? If it wasnt coming on a connector would make sense, but it is switching on somewhere and connectors arent switches

Ok. Now that I re read it it my answer makes less sense.
So its a zj, does it have the red LED on the dash for the security system?
That also has the optical sensor for the auto headlights in it too.
So, if you havent had your switch assembly out yet and re-soldered all the cold solder joints I highly recommend it. Not that that is your whole problem but is a good place to start. While there you can use some cleaner to clean the slide switches. Its a known issue. There are youtubes on how to do it. If there is gunk and funk in there it might be your problem. just a suggestion not rock sure.
