I have a 1999 GCL 4wd 6cyl... Idles fine, shifts gear fine, check fluids, fine! When i start to drive it sounds like i have a second engine roaring.. only when getting past 25mph! I had a friend that said it might be fan, but its sooo loud,, i dont want it to be the tranny cause im unemployed and need my reliable cherokee.... 276,000 miles on my baby!


OKAY THANKS TO ALL WHO ANSWERED BUT I TOOK IT TO MY DEAR MECHANIC TODAY, JUST FOR HIM TO GIVE ME THE BAD NEWS! BUT HE TOLD ME HE CANT BELIEVE MY PIECE OF SHYT ! IS STILL RUNNING..LOL THATS WHAT HE CALLS IT! BUT! IT WAS NEITHER.. I NEEDED A NEW REAR WHEEL BARRING AND MAYBE AN AXLE!! I SWEAR IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS FROM THE FRONT..

Or your fan... depends on the kind of roaring it was making, If somebody could personally hear it they would be able to make a better diagnosis of it.

could be ur fan clutch the idea behind it is when ur engin gets up high rpm the clutch engages to spin the fan to keep it cool sometimes the seize up and will no disengage and kinda sound like a jet or somthin there not to spend easy way to check try and spin it if it spins free its not that
