Default Replacing GC shocks on 2003 4.0L 2WD

I'm thinking of putting new shocks on my GC and I'm looking for some suggestions on what I should change to. I do some towing with a 19' boat and a 16' trailer/buggie.

Does it make sense to upgrade from the stock shocks or stick with what came from the factory?

MX6s are fully adjustable and would make a big difference when towing versus empty.
