I was having problems with temperature gauge fluctuating, thought the problem was radiator cap, new cap and the temp gauge stopped fluctuating. However today took a short trip to store and found coolant on the ground of the parking.
Could not determine where the leak was coming from but the radiator passenger side appeared to have corrosive green coolant along the side where the core connects to the tank from the bottom to the top.
So I pulled the radiator which is a Mopar OEM 52028379 with two row aluminum core and plastic side tanks. Appears to be much older than I originally thought, with rust and corrosion around the radiator.
I don't have access to a shop to have it pressure tested, etc. so decided to find a replacement.
However I'm uncertain to go with an aftermarket or a Mopar OEM which most likely is the same as the OEM removed using alum. core and plastic tanks.
Mopar Giant has an OEM 52028379
$208.80 + Estimated Shipping & Handling $40.09
However there are many aftermarkets some of which are all aluminum. I think most of the aftermarkets also use plastic tanks and alum. core.
e.g. RockAuto has
NISSENS 609891 Center; 2 ROW CORE, SLOT FAN MOUNT $126.79
NISSENS 61000 {#52079597AB} CENTER - $165.70
eBay a whole bunch of aftermarkets as well as all aluminum, some running over $200.00 with free shipping.
2 Row Full Aluminum Radiator For 1993-1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 4.0L L6 94 95 96 Price: $139.00 with free shipping.
I don't really have any idea, what radiator would be better. Mopar is known to manufacture radiators that are well built and last a long time.
