Find one that works, pull it out and replace it with one you think might be bad and test the circuit with that one. A good circuit to use for testing is a headlight relay. It's easy to see if it works. Or the horn is a good one also. The relays are all the same.

Yep. Note the part number on them - they are all the same. Generally, with automotive relays in the same box, if they will physically fit, they are compatible.

While you are swapping around in there, hit the contacts with some CRC Contact Cleaner. Good stuff.

Good trick. Go to a wrecking yard and grab all the relays and fuses out of a couple of wrecks. They are much cheaper that way and you'll have them if needed. Be careful pulling them because they are usually very tight and using pliers it's easy to crush the cases.

Mark! You will appreciate this. I just looked at a jeep that was for sale and the guy was so OCD that he had all the fuse numbers facing the same direction! The XJ was immaculate but he wanted WAY too much money for it. $9000 for a 97? Bigger than my wallet.

He can probably pull a few more grand than that if he put it on Bring a Trailer, a few really clean stockers (including at least one SE) have pulled close to or at 13 grand recently. XJ prices are only going one direction and it isn't down.

Doesn't everybody do that?

I can't be bothered with a simple thing like that! Other things need my attention more. Like cleaning the inside of my windshield.

I have found the El Cheapo microfiber cloths at Harbor Freight do a good job on the film that collects on the inside of the windshield. I now carry one in each of my vehicles. Just use them dry any time the film is evident. Works great.

Now, if you blow coffee all over your windshield because you heard something funny on the radio, you probably need more conventional cleaning methods.

No, I've got cigarette smoke build-up. It usually takes 2 times with Windex or Invisible Glass Cleaner. Not so bad in the summer though. The problem is reaching over the steering wheel.

Hey! I think we're off topic, don't you think?
