Default Rear View Electric Dimmer ?

On my '97 GC Limited the interior rear view electric dimmer does not work. No bad fuses and plug connection on rear of mirror is good. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a dimmer inside the mirror that can go out? Can it be fixed, or do I have to replace the whole mirror? I didn't realize how much I used it until it went out...Thanks

It's just one of those bells and whistles that would be cost effective to live without.

check junkyards, if you cant dinf one then your better off without it, shops probably will look at you funny when you bring it in, and the stealership will want hundreds of dollars.
Good luck!

are you SURE it doesn't work? I had a 95 and a 93. Most of the time it didn't seem like they worked...but they do. Slowwwly. It's hard to tell with the rear window tinted.

In my opinion, not worth the time or effort to mess with, it doesn't seem to make a HUGE difference with the back window being tinted anyway.

I never really realized how much I use it..I do a lot of night driving on long narrow country roads where folks tend to drive with their brights on and forget to dim them..Driving freeways and in town isn't so bad because folks tend not to need their brights..Also, my eyes are extremely light sensitive..I can really notice the difference..I found one on ebay for $19 w/free shipping..figured it is worth it..Thanks for the feedback..
