re-set time/factory stereo

re-set time/factory stereo
can anyone please tell me hoe to re-set the time on the factory stereo in a '93 grand cherokee limited? i had to disconnect the battery to put in a new alternator, and for whatever reason pressing the "time" button on the head unit does nothing. thanks for any help.
