Default Put Her To Work Yesterday

Well, the wife and I decided to re-do our front yard landscaping yesterday, so we took the Jeep and the CX-9 to Home Depot, dropped about $600 on supplies, and took them out to load up.

We knew the Jeep had the beefier suspension, but we weren't sure exactly how tough it was.

Ended up loading 900 pounds of landscaping bricks, 100 pounds of sand, and probably 150 pounds of plants and other sundry supplies into the back. The suspension compressed a little -- it sat level instead of nose-down lol -- but it handled it like a champ. We only put maybe 400 in the CX-9, but it handled it well, too.

I was also impressed with how the 4.7L handled moving that much weight. You can tell the engine is focused on torque, not HP, and it had no trouble on hills, even from a dead stop.

I was very impressed.

Anyone know what the weight limit is on a 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo for internal carrying?

Either way...now it's time to have my boys wash her and clean her out...right after we go snag some rocks for today's project.

Here's yesterday's results:

We've had an unusually wet spring this year, so everyone's grass looks fantastic. I'll be mowing this evening and hoping the sun doesn't scorch it this week.

I'm not sure landscaping bricks would have worked out so well for me on the roof rack...but at Christmas-tree time....yay!

Its good thing that your Grand Cherokee handled the weight of those 1,000+ pound materials pretty well... Just an indication that the GC can be used for hauling heavy loads...

Yep, I was impressed. I think I was probably right at the gross weight limit, though. Isn't that like 5900 pounds?

The GVWR (loaded vehicle only, no trailer) for 2005 Grand Cherokee, 4.7 V8, 4WD is 6100lbs. http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_specs.htm
