Default Push start not working

I have a 2011 Jeep Cherokee that has the push start ignition and passive entry (swipe hand in the door handle and as long as the key fob is with you it will unlock the doors). Lately my passive entry is not working, it will take numerous swipes to get the jeep unlocked. Also when trying to get the jeep to start it will give the error key not in vehicle when the key fob is clearly in the console. I have changed the batteries about 6 weeks ago. Please help!!!

1. You don't have a Cherokee
2. Sounds like a key fob issue to me, should still be under warranty so have you asked the dealer?

1. What do you mean I don't have a Cherokee?
2. The dealership said to try changing the batteries, again, and to see if this will help.

you dont have a Cherokee. the Cherokee was only produced from 1984-2001 (and a little bit in the 70s, but we dont really talk about those here)

lynn, don't worry about these rude priks, they know very little about their own xj's, let alone anything newer than an 01.

sounds like a signal strength issue with your key fob. try holding your fob under the lip of the dash, or even against the dash close to your info center as that's likely where they put the receiver.

but as mentioned, try your dealer as it seems to be a warranty issue.
