Left Side Speakers not working with new stereo...Help?.
97 TSi with the Infinity Gold system.
Dead factory stereo. Replaced with Crutchfield JVC CD/Radio. Wiring harness supplied by Crutchfield.
The Wiring connections are good (I was careful, and all other features work fine)....
but the left side speakers (in both doors) don't work.
Right side seems fine (I'm not an audiophile, but they sound OK to me).
By setting the balance all the way to the left, I get a tiny bit of sound out of the tweeter.
Power window works on the left side doors (as does the power lock for the rear door, but not the driver's door)...so the doors are getting some kind of power.
Any thoughts on what to check...could it be a problem with the factory amp? Any common spots the wires run through to check?
Thanks!

Pull the plug for the speakers and check the ohms (resistance). Whatever you've got on the right side should be the same on the left. If not, your old system may have fried the speakers. You may get some difference front to rear because I think the tweeters are wired into the front output.
Years ago, the industry standard was 8 ohm speakers, but Ford used 4 ohm. Why? They're Ford! I'm not aware of today's standards. If you get a big difference, you can ohm out each speaker individually, but that requires taking the doors apart.

Don't know...this is a replacement vehicle (Daughter wrecked the '95 Sport) that the stereo didn't work on when I got it.....and I'm doing stuff slowly..
Next up is the headliner... (and the Rear Diff...take the cover off and see if there's any wear/bad bearings that makes the hum/whine from the back).

My jeep kinda did the same thing, open your driver door, you should see a rubber boot that has all you wires going to your door that controls everything, i found a couple wires broke, that was my problem. And it's a pretty common problem. Like dave was saying check to see if your getting anything to the speaker if not i would look where i was saying. Both driver door and passanger door have that problem. Hope you get it fixed

Wires looked fine, but I pulled the door panel yesterday. Didn't see the power lock actuator for the driver's side door, but the speaker is a Jensen..so it was replaced in the past. Wired in. So, I pulled the electrical tape off, cleaned up the corroded wires and it worked. So I'm not going to pull the passenger (left) door off to do the same until I need to...the front speakers are fine with the stereo.
Thanks!
(I decided I'm not going to fix the driver's power lock...want the kid(s...the older one is away at college now..) to learn to have the key in her hand when she locks the door.)
