Problem Starting
Have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I replaced spark plugs, coil packs and injectors. After finishing it has had a hard time starting sometimes and I have to give it gas for it to start. Any ideas what it could be?
You didn't say it so I feel compelled to ask. Was the starting behavior better or worse before replacing the above articles? Did you replace all at once or did you do it in steps (with trials in-between)? If it is now worse than it was before then it's time to peel the onion.
I'd go to the injectors and their connections first. One of them may be stuck or not connected well or some silly thing like that. Ya' never know, you know?
I'm a firm believer in Mr. Murphy and his, at least I think it's one of his, "theory of last rework". I know, it's a drag to repeat the tasks but hey, like I said, if it's worse now than before then logic dictates that it's something you did. Get yourself another six-pack first ... it's your reward for giving it due diligence.

That's the first thing I learned in racing, do one thing at a time and see what difference it makes. That's also a lot of parts to replace for no apparent reason. I can see plugs, but why coils and injectors if they weren't giving you problems? Injectors aren't like carbs where bigger is better. They are probably flowing too much fuel for a clean start without added air. Remember, your foot only controls air flow. The PCM controls the fuel.
