Default Power steering issue?

My WJ G/Cherokee has an intermittent power steering problem. Sometimes when turning right there's a "wooshing" sound from the area of the steering column and there's not a lot of power assistance happening and/or the steering feels kind of lumpy as assistance comes and goes. The annoying thing is that I found some references to this problem but then had to move to a new PC and cannot find the information again. Not losing fluid and the reservoir is full, and its PAS fluid not ATF. All is fine when turning left. RHD vehicle.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to CF!

I sounds to me like a seal in the steering box is bypassing pressure when turning to the right. The problem is it requires a complete disassembly of the steering box to replace a $2 seal, AND as long as it's apart, might as well rebuild the whole thing.
