Sounds to me like a failing crank sensor.

How's the wiring and plugs to it? You could have an intermittent open circuit.

They seem fine. I was told by a mechanic that I should regroud to the body, frame and engine, which I have done, now time will tell.

Um, I dunno about you folks, but my google ability leads me to believe the PO725 relates to Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction. Me think that would be the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the transmission.

My FSM doesn't even list a P0725. A P0720 has to do with the transmission input shaft speed being less than 60 rpm with a vehicle speed of 15 mph.
