I like the red but the smashed green one is a deal if it has the parts I can use.
As usual nobody calls back but they have the trucks listed!

The XJ prolly does not have a bad tranny. I stay away from ZJs because they frequently have bad trannies. XJs with the AW4 is rarely ever bad just needs a little of "Blues magic". In 15 minutes and for less than $100 I can fix the XJs tranny woes.

It seems once the trans goes then they are up for sale real cheap.Originally Posted by BlueXJ

I think I am going to learn how to rebuild the 42RE from my buddy.

I have never rebuilt a tranny and should try it sometime. Other then the overdrive part these are the same tranys that Dodge has used for 30yrs. Its a 727 with the added overdrive. Of course they added more electronics as they went as well. The week link is usally the torque converter and when they go bad they flood the rest of the tranny with clutch material and plug em up so they don't work. If a guy didn't care about the overdrive you could grab a tranny out of a older truck. they are really cheap to rebuild and bullet proof. I would consider doing that if this one goes because its for off roading anyway. Don't need overdrive in the hills. Be hard getting used a engine running 3200rpm going on the highway again.

I still have my books from way back from school where I used to do powerglides and 350's and 400's.Originally Posted by RRAM

A basic rebuild kit for a 42RE cost me $55 and $60-$80 for a converter plus and other electronics.

I believe it, they really are not expensive to fix other then knowing where and how to put stuff back where it came from. I just seem to remember so many springs and so many check *****. Maybe its not as bad as a guy thinks. I seen some and talked to mech who work on this stuff and they really don't seem to be all the intelligent. You may be ok to try it.

Ok I can calm down now as I am done with Craigslist for a few day atleast
The stable is getting full with a 93,94,95 now.
Ok so I give up and get mad because of no call backs and go out to eat and while eating I get a call and say what the hell I'm on the way.
Two hours driving later on the road and I am thinking this thing better look better than the pics online.
WOW!!!!!!!! DOES IT!
I bought the 1994 Red GCLL, Body and interior are amazingly clean, way clean.
Fully loaded and loaded more than my 1993, all power like mine but here is the kicker, tuffted grey leather and the fake wood trim and Infinity Gold stereo and the gold snowflake rims with some nice tires on it and fog lights and painted bumpers.
Crawled under and not one lick of rust and somebody took the hitch off it but stuffed up under I found behind the rust free rear bumper is the factory trailer plug very clean!
3:73's and rear disc brakes and when I took the oil cap off I could not believe how clean the crankcase is.
Will post pics, think it needs a fuel pump as of right now.
Almost a shame to chop this up considering what I can sell it for.
And now the kicker, from asking $1000 bargained down to $450!!!!!!!!!!!
It was so worth driving to the middle of bumstick, what a deal!!!!!!
Truck came from LA.

I've had no sleep but charged the camera to take pics of the line up.
Got home and found a 1996 (1K asking )White right near where I just bought this one.
I decided to buy the whole trucks instead of hunting parts.
Yeah the 3:73's were a score but now I have 2 diffs to change.
No I need to find a Rover rear diff with electric brakes to make my trailer.

turns out the window motor is fine, something to do with a ground. I finally just grounded a wire to the door and the window goes up and down. thought I'm a genius. then tried it from the drivers door and now it won't go up or down. oh well at least it goes up and down from the back and more importantly its up. Now going to go check the fluid in the t case and then take it out wheeling a bit.
tried to pm you back and it says you take that kinda crap.

Well now it goes up and down so junior can play with it again.

And fixing the ground is better than replacing the regulator.
My 93 drivers window switch acts up now and again and cuts out but haven't checked it yet. Probably a touch of the green in there.
My 96 the master door lock switch acted up yesterday.
I'll pirate them off one of my parts trucks.
I have grown to like the 4.0 so much I am going to sell my 93 V8.
PS. I almost bought a green 97 lifted and upon going up the guys drive Led Zepplin popped in my head "I see a Green Jeep and I want to paint it Black" LOL
It was ok but the lift was very old and the I was surprised to be able to see the rust through all the oil leaks. Needless to say I gave it the 3 L's
