It's a nice song, she's got a good voice, BUT there's something about a steel guitar that drives me insane! I'm not a big country fan either. It must be something like me hating Fords.

Now I like Dire Straits!

Hey that Nikki is good! Not heard of her ; obviously not reached these shores yet!
Go to a lot of live music! In fact got tickets for Mark Knopfler ( dire Straits fame).
Still reckon Brothers in Arms is one of the all time great albums of all time!

A little history about Mark Knopfler. He loved the fuzzy guitar sound of ZZ Top, so he walked up to Dusty Rhodes and asked how he did it. Dusty actually explained it to him! Thus the sound of "Money for Nothing". He hasn't used it in any of his other songs that I'm aware of. My favorite song is "Skateaway".

Gotta agree with you, that vid is pretty damn good! Knopfler and Clapton on the same stage- it don't get no better than that!
Any of you guys lucky enough to see ACDC with Bon Scott? Before his sad departure to Rock heaven!

No, I've never seen a live performance, but did you know that Bon Scott endorsed Brian Johnson? After hearing him sing, he said "He's good. I like him." Of course that was before he knew they'd someday need him.

I love the bagpipes in "It's a Long Way to the Top if You Want to Rock & Roll".

Also did you know they recorded at the Abby Road studios when the Beatles were there and Bon talked at length to Ringo Starr?

How did this thread degenerate to music?

Not really sure how it got on to music; think it mite av been when Dave said he grew up on ACDC The Who and Chevys,! And then went on to Radio Caroline etc etc.
Lucky enough to see AC DC back in the day with Bon Scott- 5 times,! Legendary,!
Brian J however is good, used. To front a band from the north east of England called Geordie.
I didn't know that Bon endorsed him no! Or that ACDc went to Abbey Road either! Must have been after the Beatles split thou- as far as I know AC Dc didn't form till 1973!

It's probably my fault for bringing Nikki in here...

I go back to the music thread:
What are you listening to right now

Don't worry your pretty head about it. It's cool. I was just worried that some people might take offense about being "off topic".

Anybody like Dire Straits?
Played Brothers in Arms end to end a thousand times. Great album

Saw the Beatles at my local mall before they went on Ed Sullivan.

Since I'm semi-retired, I haven't spent any money on music CDs. My son decided they were something he could get me for presents, so now I have 3 Trans-Siberian Orchestra discs, 3 Pink Floyd, 3 AC/DC, 3 Dire Straits, and one Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Skynyrd one is a private burn of his most popular songs. He even found me a Boston cassette. I suspect the next set will be the Who.

The factory radio in my WJ has both CD and cassette players in it. These keep me company on my paper route.

I had a horrible screeching sound in my jeep the other day, but I stopped and made her get out!

I find it amusing that an audiology intern is into music! "Ah, all you kids are going to be deaf!"
Do you have an AC/DC tour date near you?
Closest to me is Wrigley Field but it's on a Tuesday evening which I'm not real thrilled about. Chicago rush hour is murder (sometimes like literally!).

I REALLY hate to tell you this, but the last live concert I when to was Culture Club! My wife dragged me kicking and screaming because her girlfriend had 2 tickets and she couldn't go. I thought I was going to puke! Really!
