Oil pan bolt through inspection plate, help!
Advice needed. So I was attempting to change oil pan gasket on my 06 3.7 Grand Cherokee 2wd and realized I wasn't quite prepared when I came upon the transmission to engine stiffening bracket.
After replacing the oil pan bolts I found I was missing one. Searched hi and low to no avail.
About 30 miles later my engine/transmission starts a horrific scraping sound?
So I believe I found the bolt, it must have feel through the inspection plate.
how is the best way to access this space to retrieve the bolt?
Please any advice is much appreciated.

Are you suggesting that the bolt is in the transmission bell housing area? between the Engine and Transmission? If so there should be a structural brace that bolts to the engine and trans with I think 6 (maybe only 4) bolts. removal of that allows complete access to the bottom half of the flex plate/ torque converter housing. With any luck it'll be accesible from there. But that plate should have been removed during the oil pan service.
