Default np 249 output shaft reuse nut?

I was going to replace my front shaft seal today, but since it hasnt leaked any oil the last 1/2 year i will wait for some better days, 5 celsius, rain and wind isnt funny to work in. But do i need to replace the nut or could it be reused, maybe with some loctite or?

Do some research. If this nut is used as a bearing tensioner, like on a rear diff pinion, be very careful about how tight it is. Forwarned is forarmed. Overtightening could cause bearing failure or case cracking. I don't have a parts drawing in front of me, but I would assume it is a short shaft with two bearings, one in front of the chain and one behind the seal. As far as reusing the nut is concerned, I believe you can do so.

Other members chime in here, please.

I dont think its use as bearing tensioner, it dont look like that in the service manual.

Okay, you did your research. That's good.
