Noob question from a girl...cv axle shaft
First time, already posted in the wrong forum...aaauuuggg
Ok, I looked all over the forums and maybe I missed something but I can't seem to find anything to address my question. I have a 2000 jgc Laredo wj 4.7L V8 and I believe a Dana 30/186mm front axle. Quadra Trac II on demand 4 wheel drive. So, long story short CV joints went out, the wrong parts ordered and I need to know if front CV axle shafts for a Quadra Drive system will work in my set up? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Parts people at 1 Aauto guarantees part will fit...lol

Welcome to CF!
Well, you're in the right place now! I'm going to go out on a limb here and say no, they are not the same. The Quadra-Drive system uses an electronic locker in the front and rear axles and Quadra-Trac II doesn't in the front. I suggest you check with a dealer to be sure, but that's the way I'm reading what info I found.
It's even difficult to tell looking at part numbers also because they list them for Selectrac, Quadra-drive, Quadra-trac II, with Varilock, and with Hydro-lock. All for the 2000!
A guarantee isn't much good after you've got it apart and it DOESN'T fit! Sometimes you have to put it back together with the old part and go get the right one. Sucks! The big difference is the overall length and possibly the spline count.

Thanks dave1123, that's what I was afraid of. As you say, better to know now then find out after A teardown....saved me some money on labor. After searching and browsing through the posts and threads I had hoped to get my answer from you. You're a wealth of knowledge. Happy Holidays and thanks again.

Hi Bobbie,
Just another verification. The answer is a solid NO Quadra Trac II and Quadra Drive axles are different. You'll have to source the correct components for your wagon.
I have the same Model Year but mine is the 4.0 I-6

Sounds like a "come-on" to me! LOL! That's what PMs are for.
Bobbie, You can run your VIN thru a number of websites and get your build sheet to find out what your jeep actually has on it when it was built. It is a very good reference when looking for parts and good info on options you may have that you are unaware of. I've lost the link I used, but there are better ones out there.
