Default No reverse, no overdrive...

Just picked up a 1996 Grand Cherokee Laredo with no reverse and no overdrive for DIRT CHEAP. The interior is immaculate and there isn't a dent or a scratch on it. new starter, alternator, battery... All maintenance records and yata yata...

I just picked it up yesterday and requested my build sheet from Jeep, so i do not know what transmission is in it as of yet... But, is this a common problem? Is there a sensor i should check or something? The fluid is full, clean, and doesn't smell burnt and it is not showing a CEL...

Correct me if i am wrong, but overdrive and reverse are on the same drum in the tranny right? Do we think a rebuild is in order?
