No reverse lights
The reverse lights on the wife's WJ have been inoperable for a while changed the bulbs which did not fix the issue have not been able to get anything concrete on this issue the few write-ups on this issue I have found some point to fuse #20 in the fuse box by the driver's left knee, looked at the description of fuse 20 doesn't seem to have anything to do with reverse lights. Or a relay in engine bay same thing does seem to have anything to do with reverse lights. This leaves only the transmission range sensor on the transmission valve body, but can not get anything to say that anyone with this issue has replaced that part and solved the issue. Or for that matter a course of troubleshooting procedures for determining if this part is if fact the cause, as the only sense that there might be an issue is the reverse lights don't work everything else works perfectly, shifts good no check engine lights pointing to a faulty sensor or anything. So after all that I am at a loss.

Okay, on the WJ, the reverse light switch is part of the neutral/park safety switch. It is screwed into the side of the transmission like a pressure sensor might be, near where the shift cable goes into it. There are 2 terminals on it, a center one and a side one. You can test continuity between the 2 terminals and should only get continuity when the trans is in reverse. There should be no continuity between the side terminal and the case.
The park/neutral part of the switch is the center terminal grounding to the case. In reverse, the power goes to the side terminal and then to the lights.
I know! Clear as mud, right?

Thanks but unfortunately the 545re transmission for the 4.7 v8 doesn't use the neutral safety switch, but thanks for looking out.

Your lighting problem still points to not sensing reverse. There's GOT it be a switch somewhere.
