no 4WD full
It's best to test out full time 4wd on a slippery surface. You may not feel the front wheels engage until slippage in the rear is detected. How did you determine that F/T 4wd didn't work?
Here's what I observe: The car seems to be only in 2 WD. When the Select Trac shifter is moved to 4 WD Part-time, it doesn't seem to actually have a detent in that position, but it stays there and the car moves forward. If the selector is moved to 4WD Full-time, or all the way rearward (LO), the car does not move or try to move. It's as if it's in neutral. Car has 92k, 2001.
There is no owner's manual, and I have no Jeep experience. If it were a transfer case problem, wouldn't you still be able to move in LO or 4wd full? I'm thinking that maybe it's just the linkage.
Tomorrow first thing, I'm going to take it to a local garage and have them put it up and see if there's something obvious underneath.
Can anyone recommend a Jeep-oriented garage around Norwalk, CT? Thanks.
