Default New Tires

I am looking to get some new tires here in the near future. I currently have 31 inch General Grabber AT2s and while I like the tires they have caused my ZJ to get death wobble so I am ready to replace them for something bigger. I have been looking at some Goodyear Wrangler Authority since they are in my price range. I was wondering if anyone has run this tire before and could give me any input on them before I decide to purchase them.

Thanks
Michael

I wouldn't be too quick to blame the tires for your death wobble. I've been running the AT2s for a while now with no problems at all. Check your balance, hub bearings, and other bushings and steering joints before you blame the tires.

I bought the AT2s for deep snow and haven't found a better tire for the purpose. They sing a little at speed, but it's not offensive. I've run 70 mph for 300 miles on segmented concrete highways (you know, thump, thump) with no problems.

I had Goodyear All Terrain 33X12.5s on my Chevy truck and they were annoyingly loud.

It was the balance on the tires that were my issue and now I have a slipped belt in one so I'm needing to get something else. I agree that the AT2s are a great tire for deep snow and have little road noise. I'm not too worried about noise though it doesn't bother me much as the Jeep is loud itself.

Okay. I just didn't want you to blame ANY tire until you checked out everything else. Even a bent rim (steel) can cause a problem and be hard to find.

I once bought a pair of Firestone Wide Ovals (the first 70 series made) for cheap from a guy that worked at a Firestone store. He said they were perfect and the buyer didn't like them. My car wound up vibrating real bad at 40 mph. I decided to have them spin-balanced and found they were molded off center! They were warrentee returns that he thought he could sucker someone into buying and pocketing the money. Come to find out, he didn't even work at Firestone! The store manager showed my where they had marked the tires as defective and asked me who I bought them from. All I had was a first name of a guy I met in a bar. What's that saying? "Let the buyer beware" I only related this as a warning.
