new to the jeep world and i need help

i just got a 98 grand cherokee and the tranny is bad ,i found a 2001 cherokee sport with 34,000 miles on it (wrecked) will this tranny fit?, if not what ere the interchangeable years,it has the 4.0 inline 6 and it is 4w drive,thanks -andre

i learned this the hard way... ruined 2 brand new tires..... Used a grand cherokee tye rod.... even though most of the specs are the same it doesnt fit right.... if im right 96-98 has the same tranny
