true you could limp it home with a bent axle or damaged r/p, but from the OPs description that's not what has happened.
Also he said in his other post it is a 2wd ZJ so axle ratio of the donor does not matter. Ideally he'd want a rear out of a 4.0L automatic ZJ for the optimal gear ratio, and reuse his driveshaft. Also with a 2wd and Laredo package he would not have a v8 or tow package.

Oh I only read this thread ,so I only knew it was 98 GC .Getting 3.73 ratio would be an upgrade during swap the 2 wd is probably economy 3.55 gears ...But whatever he can find .
Thks guys for postings.
I went back he said it was the rear end differential assembly -
My other friend said it was probley better to replace it bc the labor charge of them getting in and trusting them to put it back together
So I'm looking on Craigslist and eBay to buy one - guess looking for less than 100k in miles
I live in Dallas - sure there are salvage yards no idea what I would be doing though.
The jeep sounds very loud like a small plane in the back when your driving
Any one that has feedback or suggestions as to where to buy one I would appreciate it. My jeep is 98 Grand Cheeroke Laredo no 4wd. I just do not want to put allot of money into it

ok there are a few things you should know when looking.
You need a Dana 35 rear axle out of a 1993+ ZJ Grand Cherokee. It will most likely have 3.55 Gears.
A axle out of a standard XJ Cherokee will not work
