Need help asap
I have a 93 grand cherokee Laredo it has the 4.0 and its auto 4x4. I am having trouble with the tranny. It defaulted into 3rd. I changed tranny fluid, filter ,cooler, selinoid, and the other sensor in the transmission. I chamged the tcm and nothing is working. Still in 3rd. Only code is #23 (torque converter clutch circut) please help

Welcome to CF!
Being a 93, the transmission could be an AW4 which I know nothing about. That was the only year the AW4 was used in the Grand Cherokee. It's also possible it's a 42re because I believe they changed to it mid-year, but don't quote me on that. Either way, it's in "limp" mode, designed to just get you home. The torque converter clutch just locks up the converter above 40 mph for better fuel economy. It either works or doesn't work, but you still should be able to drive it normally. It just reduces the engine rpm by about 10% when locked. I've been driving my 2000 WJ for 3 years without it.
The GOOD thing is if it's an AW4, the Cherokee (XJ) used them up til 2001 so there should be plenty to replace it with if that's necessary. You should probably have someone in a shop look it over to see what's wrong.
