Hi all, im new the the site.I have a 1996 GC with Q-track, the truck had been running fine till it developed a transfer case leak (not a bad one put still a leak)..problem is i started it up one morn and put in reverse, now it felt like it went into revers but when i gave it gas it went no where, when i put it in drive it goes..i tried playing with the 4-high and 4-low and noticed that it was very hard to get in and out of those gears..i tried to push the truck out of my driveway while in N but was unable to, felt like it was in gear, i had to put the 4x4 in N then i was able to push the truck, i checked the Transmission fluids and its fine as well as the transfer case fluids, also good...

? is, do i need a new Transmission or a new transfer case.

it's funny cause i just replied to a thread like this but when i lost reverse thats what it felt like. it was the transmission. it felt like it went into gear but acted like it was in N when i gave it gas. do u regularly shift your trans case? i have a 00 with q-track and i think i have done it once in the 4 years i have owned it and it was pretty stiff. i just figured it was because i never did it before. when my trans went though i was able to put it in R and just step one leg out of the door and push it back. kinda embarrassing but less embarrassing then running after your car. i would get trans checked first.

Well its very stiff when i try and change the 4x system, and when the truck is in Rev i cant push it, i have to put the 4x into N and only then can i push it, also when i drive it i can hear something grinding just below me, i also need to replace the drivers side axle, its bad.
