Motor won't run with serp belt on? HELP!

Default Motor won't run with serp belt on? HELP!
I have a 2000 GC and it backfires like hell if the serp belt is on but if I remove it it runs great. Whats the problem?

It was the alt. Disconnected wires and it runs fine.
