motor vibration
I have a 1995 Grand Cherokee that vibrates badly when stopped with the motor running and in gear. I replaced the distributor cap (coil post covered in a white powder and contact poles worn) the rotor and the pickup coil plate. Runs better but still vibrates. Thanks for any help.

Have youchecked motor mounts, ??? Mine were causing a bad vibration which was worst at idle.. Didn't look bad until I took them out then they fell apart. I have 200.000 on mine but I supect they have been bad for a long time..

+1 for the motor mounts. If they go bad they will cause shaking and even clanking noise if they are that far gone. I don't remember how many there are but If there are 4 the the most likely ones to go bad are the front one. But I would give them all a once over.

There are Three one on each side of the motor and another at the transmission.. that one usually is not a problem unless you've liifted the jeep.

1995 jeep xj running sluggish
I have a 1995 jeep Cherokee XJ that I just put a new head gasket and rebuilt the head at a shop along with new spark plugs, and cap and rotor, it also as a new throttle position sensor. now after putting it all make together the motor shakes in gear more and a little in park but seems like it want to bog down and shut off but anyways I notice a light smoke coming out of the oil dipstick do know what's that about . but you have to push the gas way down for it even to get going, I checked vacuum lines and can't hear any hissing noise also along with checking the exhaust manifold. please help I'm so lost on what to do now.
