Default motor swap

Hi all, If I missed this post sorry. I have a 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 motor with blown motor and would like to swap it with a 2000 cherokee sport 4.0 is this a drop in or will it be way more pulling parts. My wife is going nuts without her baby. Also if this is not compatable what will work? Thanks Dale

You might have to swap some brackets, like for the power steering and such. Other than that the motors should be the same just a direct swap. The other thing that might be different is the water pump.

But the base motors are all the same...

Thanks Nick. I can get get my hands on a 2000 Jeep 4.7 v8 from a buddy but feel the swap may be to much, but could be worth it in the long run

Are you talking swapping a 4.7 into place of a 4.0? I would guess that could be done if you had the jeep with the donor engine. I think it would be way to much work and not worth it.

YA the 4.7 would require a donor rig. THe computer, trans and all the wiring...

WHy swap in a not-so-reliable engine, with something that can last forever?

4.0L I6 > 4.7L V8

Thanks for input. I just had opportunity for a larger motor and figured it "maybe" worth while, but i only could get the motor and some wiring for cheap (no tranny). I'll stick with the 4.0. Again thanks and a great forum and all the info.

The 4.7 is a very good motor, just not the easiest swap....
