What would cause a 4.0 96 grand Cherokee to have all 6 cylinders misfiring but it still drives good just pulls code for the misfire

Could be anything, low fuel pressure, weak ignition, mechanical problems...

Several months ago after I got my '97 GC w/ 4.0, I was searching through here and saw someone post that aftermarket plug wires will cause you to get the misfire codes. You should only use Mopar wires. Of course with my luck, I saw this a week or two after I had bought BWD brand wires.

I called the dealership and while their wires were over twice what I had paid, they had a "tune up kit" of wires, cap & rotor which wasn't obscenely more than what I had paid for the individual items.

Occasionally a car may act up for some reason or other then never do it again. Have you erased all the codes?

Yes I erased the codes first time only shower 2 or 3 cylinders now shows all 6 it still runs and drives good I have the once a day bog/cut out but still runs good they are aftermarket wires and plugs but I didn't install them so I'm having a shop look at them tomorrow because it was time for a oil change anyway and gonna have the distributor inspected. I had a 96 befor and it had the random cutout too and ended up buying new computer and fixed it but the cut out was more severe

Did you end buying the stuff from dealer or left the aftermarket stuff on

I left the BWD stuff on. I'm too cheap, figure I will run that stuff for a year or so, then buy the Mopar. I get the random misfire code and various cylinder codes every few days, but I'm still chasing a few bugs when I get the chance. It's had a fluctuating idle since I got it. Well, when I got it, it had a fast idle, but a new distributor cap fixed that. The old one was shot.

I recently went through an apparent crank position sensor issue, and now I haven't noticed the idle dropping off briefly. But I haven't driven in town but once since then.

I think my distributor is bad or possibly my computer
