Yep.
When there are no instructions on the dipstick, remember this:
Almost all auto transmissions are checked in park or neutral. From an operational standpoint, the only difference is whether the parking tab is engaged or not. Won't make a difference in checking the level.
If there's no difference between checking in neutral/park and checking in gear, something is way off.

Fluid expands so you have to check when the fluid is HOT. Also there are some channels that only open/fill when pump has been running. You have to drive it for a good 10 minutes, then check again in park/nuetral (doesn't matter) with engine still running.

i checked the fluid in neutral after driving for about an hour and the fluid is still about 3qts low. There are no visible leak anywhere on the under carriage , no oil spots or blow back signs anywhere. The coolant and the overfill look brand new so no trans fluid in there, i am just lost on where the fluid is going?

But i have no leaks in my driveway? where could the fluid be goiin? my antifreeze looks new still ? any help would be appreciated.
Is this a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

Are you absolutely sure you know the difference between the oil dipstick and the transmission dipstick? And are checking the right one? And adding to the right one?
I just don't see how a vehicle can pull itself around with the transmission fluid being 3-6 quarts low. And no apparent leaks.
I'm not trying to cast doubt on your under-the-hood knowledge. Stranger things have happened.
Incidentally, a transmission doesn't reach full operating temperature until about 30 minutes or so of high-speed driving. It's still cold at 10 minutes.
