Automatic transmission fluid is basically a high temperature stable hydraulic fluid. It's main purpose is to act as a fluid to activate the clutches and remove heat. All the gears are in constant mesh and all the bearings are ball or roller so there isn't much need for an actual lubricant. A transmission's major enemy is heat created in the torque converter.
Chrysler's ATF+4 has all the additives necessary for this purpose and if changed regularly and especially after getting hot, should be all you need.
Most people think the 42re and 44re are junk transmissions, but I have 212K miles on mine of heavy service delivering newspapers, which is like taxicab service, and is still functioning perfectly. I've done 4 filter and fluid changes and treated it with respect. The torque converter clutch is non-functional, but I refuse to tear it apart just for that.
But that's just my opinion. BTW, lock out O/D when towing.

I do nothing but tow with my '03 WJ, so I'll have to be changing ATF soon, as the fluid gets worked. I presume that your '00 is tow package equipped? If not, for certain install an auxiliary transmission cooler to get rid of the excess heat. I don't know about tranny additives, I agree with Dave that regular scheduled ATF changes are the sure way to go.
I don't tow at all with mine. I just installed a trailer hitch as a rear recovery point for ditch retrieval. I deliver newspapers and have slid into a ditch once and had to crawl under it to attach the tow strap to the rear axle. Not a fun thing in deep snow!
