This may be a bit unorthodox, but I took the guage sensor out and let the air out.

well i finally figured out the reason for the engine running too cool after installing a new water pump and thermostat. i has put the thermostat in and tried to run the engine before i knew that the water pump was the problem so when it ran too hot the thermostat locked in open position because it was a fail safe T-stat. so thanks for all the help everyone and my GCL is running fine now!
