I tried 3 different obd 11 devices including 2 from Autozone and I get the message "linking error". The check engine light is on and it runs very rough and sometimes it won't idle. The other times it sputters and jerks while accelerating. I have also tried turning the ignition 3 times and it still won't display a code. Any suggestions as to what I should do next?

Yes, I can drive it, that's probably what I will do. I spoke with a dealer and they can troubleshoot it, the problem is that there may be an additional charge to fix my obd port.

Even tho the jeep dealership is expensive, I'd go to them as well instead of any other mechanic. have you inspect the obd port? Are there any port 'wires' touching each other or anything like that?
