Left Brake light not working when headlights are on.
Hello,
(2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7)
I've found out this is a common problem however the fix that others have found successful is not working for me. That fix was to 1) pull out the light assembly 2) remove the brake bulb socket 3) pry up the single tab (ground tab) in order to make better contact with that part of the socket...and presto its fixed. Well that didnt work for me.
Again the problem is that when my headlights (or running lights are on) and I step on the brake, the left brake light (and running light go out).
I have a multimeter and just enough brains to know how to use it.
If anyone has any ideas.....
BTW the bulb is good so no problem there.
Thanks.
LB

Check your grounds. That kind of thing is usually a ground problem. Since this is the Cherokee section (not the Grand Cherokee section), I don't know where to tell you to look for the ground for the rear lights.
You might post there to see if another Grand Cherokee owner knows.

Haha I see so many wj with the same issue and I'm trying to figure it out myself. Check this one out lights off left doesn't work right works fine lights on it works but then right doesn't work. I figured it was a ground issue just not no a priority to do.

Follow the wires up to where they are all in bundle above your liftgate and splice the left brake light/ and running light into the right brake light feeds.
