any good cb mounts for a 97 zj ?

 

good luck i never found a place to put mine in my 97 zj...

 

I have heard of them making a bracket that sticks out the top of the taillight area. You could remove the taillight and put a bracket in, however i would make sure it reinforced enough that it doesnt flex and break your light. This is what i plan to do.

 

What I plan to do on my 93 is take down the interior roof trim (put it back up after install) and drill a hole just big enough for the antenna in the roof. I will secure the antenna with a "pinch plate" style mount and run the wires along the interior roof out of sight. On the inside you would see nothing and on the roof you will see the antenna and 4 decent sized (5/8 probably) hex head bolts.

It works on the same principal as the hitches they make for passenger cars. They are mounted to th bottom of the trunk pan. Obviously the trunk pan is thin and would rip apart if used to tow something, until you intorduce the pinch plates and now it can handle class one towing.

 

This is how I mounted mine its very easy and all you have to do is either but a firestick jeep wrangler hood mount or make your own bracket.
