Default Jeep Grand Cherokee 2012 3.0 V6 CRD

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2012 3.0 V6 CRD, 140,000 kilometres driven

19,000 EUR - Mechanic defect of the pump

The entire fuel system including the reservoir needs to be changed.

Authorized service centre’s explanation: The pump malfunction was due to steel particles in supply and return fuel lines that lead from the pump to the fuel reservoir. The existing system is almost impossible to clean because of the damage. If even the smallest steel particle remains in the fuel lines it could be fatal for the new pump. Because of that the entire system needs to be replaced as this is the only way to ensure complete repair of the damage and functioning of the motor in the future.

Proof: vehicle maintenance, notifications about the problem, past malfunctions

Given the fact that this is a new vehicle the value of which exceeds 65,000 euro, we would like to know if this is the kind of malfunction that can be expected in a vehicle 4 years old with 150,000 kilometres driven. How come the service centre did not detect this malfunction if there were warnings about it? The malfunction that puts lives of the driver and his passengers at risk and occurs despite proper vehicle maintenance – is it a normal occurrence with this vehicle?

Thank you, it's not illegal, you don't get arrested, a ticket or a fine. But in some states the vehicle may not pass a Smog inspection. The state I live in doesn't do a smog inspections.

Removing the dpf is like removing a cat off a gas engine,It its illegal on the fed level and if you get caught its a fat fine and they can impound your jeep on the spot.
