Hi, is there som video/step by step to remove/install the alternator on a ZJ 1993 4.0L with A/C. It was a pain to get it out, i did removed the idler next to it and managed to get it out in front and down, but i didnt notice what direction it was when it finaly got out.

 

I think, from looking at mine if you pulled the four bolts holding down the AC Compressor you could carefully lift it out of the way making it easier to drop the alternator in place.

There should be enough slack in the AC Comp hoses to allow enough movement.

The other option is to pull out the battery and battery mounting tray, but that could lead to other problems.


WARNING: Be careful reinstalling those four AC compressor bolts . You are tightening them into an aluminum bracket if memory serves me right and stripping the mount holes is not unheard of.

 

IMHO, it's much easier to do from underneath.
